Happy 4th of July! Here are a few good ways to pass your time during this weekend of celebration and relaxation. Be safe and remember to thank the troops!
Welcome to the Future Proof Toolkit - Podcast edition. I listen to a ton of podcasts. Picking out just 5 for the Future Proof Toolkit was actually quite a challenge. But I think you will really enjoy this final selection. Again, this is a simple list ordered alphabetically, not a ranking. More after the jump!
APM Marketplace - Produced by American Public Media (APM), Marketplace includes a portfolio of programs including Marketplace with Kai Ryssdal, Marketplace Morning Report with David Brancaccio, Marketplace Weekend with Lizzie O'Leary, and Marketplace Tech with Ben Johnson. The programs focus on the latest business and economic news nationally and around the globe. I've gotten so used to listening to Marketplace on a daily basis that I feel like I'm old friends with Kai Ryssdal.
Freedom Formula for Physicians - Weekly podcast from Dave Denniston, CFA, Freedom Formula covers personal finance with a focus on issues that matter the most to physicians. What is unique is that Dave regularly brings physician guests on air as part of the "A Physician Fireside Chat" series which offers a window into the life of a fellow physician colleague, including yours truly. Definitely check it out.
Motley Fool Money - Weekly podcast from the guys at Motley Fool. The show usually lasts ~40 mins and covers the week's top business and investing stories, news and interviews. Motley Fool also run 4 other podcasts which can be found HERE. But of all of the Motley Fool podcasts, Motley Fool Money is the must listen for me weekly.
Planet Money - National Public Radio (NPR) runs many programs. Planet Money is one that is near and dear to my heart. This twice-weekly podcast dishes out informative information on important economic topics in a way that is brief, but informative. Think of it as the Future Proof, MD of podcasts. Episodes are usually less than 20 mins long.
TED Radio Hour - another gem from NPR in collaboration with TED Talks, Radio Hour is a weekly show that features TED Talks connected by a common theme. For example, the episode on 7/1/16 was centered around how our upbringing shapes us featuring talks like "What Can Kids Learn By Doing Dangerous Things?" and "What Does It Mean To Be A 'Child Of The State'?"
